Compassion CBO is a grassroots, not-for-profit, Community Based Organisation (CBO) in Kenya. We work to eradicate poverty and enact social change through education, women's economic empowerment and sustainable development among marginalised people and groups in rural areas and the slums of Nairobi.
Through helping to set up new local groups and working with established ones, we have created a cooperative network of small local groups who - through training and support, are empowered to create income-generating schemes and fight social injustices such as female genital mutilation (FGM).
We also run a school for the children of the slum, so they can access the education that would otherwise be denied to them because of cost. Compassion CBO is run by volunteers.
We advocate for the Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights for women and we sensitize men and boys about the rights of women and girls.
- We work to end gender based violence, empower women economically and socially and enable them to live responsible and fulfilled lives.
- We advocate for SRHR Services and long-term sustainable development to promote gender equality for women and see they are given an equal footing with men without gender partiality, in all matters, to compete on an equal platform.
- We provide access to basic education and skills to the marginalized population and groups in low income areas to help them achieve their dreams and overcome many obstacles in life and be able to fight for their rights.
