COVID 19 Response 4Compassion CBO is leading local responses to the global Coronavirus pandemic.

Compassion CBO has set out to raise $40,000 in flexible emergency funding to support response and recovery efforts led by our team on the frontlines of this crisis.

We know from past crises that women are typically left out of traditional disaster relief efforts. That's why we're stepping in as women led organisation.

Compassion CBO team is helping on the ground to lead a way in these unprecedented times by providing food, face masks and sanitisers to the most vulnerable women in informal settlement in Nairobi slums.

COVID 19 Response 5COVID-19 has already laid bare the systemic inequities built into our world and it's clear that women, girls, and marginalised communities who live from hand to mouth are and will be particularly hard-hit.

To demonstrate this: just recently a woman cooked stones to cheat her children that she is cooking food because she had nothing to cook. Days later, she lost one of her children as a result of hunger.

We must ensure that we can continue to provide the emergency food relief for women who carry the great burden to feed their children during this lockdown. They have lost any source of income because they are not able to move and get casual jobs.

COVID 19 Response 6In the informal settlement slums, starvation may kill many people than Covid-19 itself - due to lockdown and lack of income.

Just this week a woman cooked stones to cheat her children that she is cooking food, because she had nothing to cook. Days later, she lost one of her children as a result of hunger.

To make it easier for you to donate we have created a platform on global giving for donation to our Compassion CBO page.
