Compassion CBO is a grassroots, not-for-profit, Community Based Organisation (CBO) in Kenya. We work to eradicate poverty and enact social change through education and sustainable development in the Githogoro Slums and surrounding areas of Nairobi.
Through helping to set up new local groups and working with established ones, we have created a cooperative network of small local groups who – through training and support, are empowered to create income-generating schemes and fight social injustices such as female genital mutilation (FGM).
We also run a school for the children of the slum, so they can access the education that would otherwise be denied to them because of cost. Compassion CBO is run by volunteers.
